Privacy policy
What this site collects, who receives it, and how to stop it.
The short version
- You can read any article without an account or registration, and without accepting analytics.
- Analytics cookies are off until you consent. A Global Privacy Control signal opts you out of sale or share and stops us linking your reading to your NPI.
- We do not ask for or record your diagnoses, ICD-10 codes or medications. We record which articles you read, and each article covers a clinical topic.
What we collect
- Strictly necessary
- A session identifier and your consent choice, so the site works and so we can prove what you chose and when.
- First-party analytics (consent required)
- Page views, scroll and read progress, internal search terms, clicks and downloads, attached to a pseudonymous identifier.
- Links in our emails (consent required)
- A link in one of our emails identifies you by NPI. If you have accepted analytics, we record which articles you read from it.
- Newsletter (when you subscribe)
- Work email, your role, your attestation that you are a licensed healthcare professional, and the consent record for the email you agreed to receive.
Each article covers a clinical topic, so a record of the articles you read can suggest your clinical interests.
Who else sees it
A cloud hosting provider hosts the site for us.
Your choices
- Change or withdraw analytics consent in the cookie preferences; withdrawal is recorded with a timestamp.
- Unsubscribe from any email we send, or at /unsubscribe.
- A Global Privacy Control signal from your browser opts you out of sale or share.
This applies to this browser.
How long we keep it
- Raw analytics events
- 90 days, then deleted.
- Sessions
- 13 months.
- Articles read from an email link
- 13 months after you last read that article.
- Consent and withdrawal records
- 6 years. They are the proof of what you chose and when.
Ask us to delete your record and we delete it, along with the events and sessions attached to it. The record that you asked is kept.
